Royal Solaris Cancun resort is located at the southern end of Cancun Island, on a stretch of sand and rock beach; Wet 'n' Wild water park is just over a mile away, accessible by complimentary bicycle.

Adult couples and families come here to get away from the congestion characterizing the northern end of Cancun Island. Enticements include day and night activities, many different food-and-drink options, and a casual, rest-and-relaxation ambience. No restaurants require reservations and snack foods and alcoholic beverages are available all night.

One pool complex comprises an expansive two-level pool, with the upper level cascading into a two-section lower level featuring a swim-up bar. A second pool complex features a quiet pool and two 20-person spa tubs overlooking the sea. Adjacent to the Kids' Club is a 4-by-5-meters (12-by-15-foot) children's pool. Fronting the resort is part of the 10-km (6-mile) beach running along Cancun Island's eastern shore. The beach is powdery white sand with some rocks.

An air-conditioned Kids' Club also extends to an outdoor sandbox and shaded playground. Supervised activities include arts and crafts, Lego contests, and table games. The club is open daily with younger children using it during the morning and older ones and teenagers enjoying it in the late afternoon and evening.

Daily adult activities include pool aerobics, bingo, contests, fashion shows, cooking lessons, and athletic competitions. Nightly entertainment shows such as Mexican night and Latino night are produced by the resort's activities/entertainment staff in an air-conditioned theater. After-dark activities also include complimentary one-way transportation to the nightlife area of Cancun.

A beauty salon offers massage and hair and nail care (surcharges for all services). Massage is also available (surcharge) in an open-air beachfront tent. An air-conditioned, fitness center with mirrored wall, contains cardio and weight machines as well as free weights and offers complimentary aerobics sessions. Within the resort are jewelry, clothing and gift/sundries shops. The resort purifies its water.

The Royal Solaris offers 500 air-conditioned guestrooms in two eight-story sand-colored sections. One section is a tower; the other resembles a seaside village with red-tile roofs and courtyards. Decor includes white walls, ceilings, and crown molding, pale-gray tile floors, caramel-color furniture, bright bedspreads, and marble vanities. In-room safes are available (daily surcharge). Some rooms include ground-floor terraces, some include step-out balconies, and some have no terraces or balconies.

Las Fuentes - Located in the Royal Tower. Expansive, linen-service, two-level, air-conditioned restaurant with window walls overlooking pool and sea. Breakfast buffet daily with Mexican dishes, waffles, and omelettes made to order. Will deliver Continental breakfast to rooms. Dinner buffets highlight international theme nights. Reservations not required.

Veneto - Air-conditioned a la carte restaurant with blue and white linens, decorative tiles, tall windows. Italian cuisine with homemade pasta. Dinner only. Reservations not required. Dress code: no shorts, t-shirts, beach sandals.

Marco Polo - Air-conditioned à la carte restaurant serving Mexican dishes from Oaxaca and the Yucatan plus Mediterranean cuisine. Dinner only. Reservations not required. Dress code: no shorts, beach sandals, T-shirts.

Sports Bar - Televisions, two pool tables, table games. Open from late afternoon daily.

Caribe Lobby Bar - Located in seaside-village section. Intimate spot with thickly cushioned seating. Afternoon tea.

Royal Tower Lobby Bar - Cushioned seating, dim lights. Live music six nights weekly.

Pool Bars - Serve snack foods such as burgers and sandwiches plus beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages from mid-morning to late afternoon daily.

Non-stop activities at this resort include a range of water and land sports as well as pool games, swimming contests, the Miss and Mr. Solaris contest, Perfect Couples contest, fashion shows, and bingo. Plus, there are lessons in Spanish and Latin dance as well as aerobic and other exercise sessions. Younger guests stay busy with their own Kids’ Club which offers supervised activities such as beach and pool games, face painting, and drawing. Use of snorkeling gear on the beach and pedal boats, kayaks, and windsurfers at this Cancun resort's marina on Nichupté Lagoon, the large, placid body of water lying between Cancun Island and the mainland, is complimentary.
